This is a workshop-oriented course in social science research, with particular emphasis in public administration. This course introduces basic skills in conceptualizing research problems, constructing hypotheses, and developing appropriate methods of data collections both in quantitative and qualitative designs.
FE241 GMGM5023 KUMP A STRATEGIC MANAGEMENT IN PUBLIC ORGANIZATION
This course focuses on strategic management and leadership in the public sectors of democratic societies. It critically examines and applies the assumptions, concepts and tools of the new approaches to public management that are being applied around the world. It presents a broad analytic approach to the problems that managers face and aims at the development of integrated strategies for improving performance in solving serious problems in the public sphere. It should complement specialized courses that focus in more detail on the particular tools that managers use, and should help students integrate the knowledge they have gained from their experience and from previous course work. Important strategic aspects that will be examined in the course include: the importance of strategy in the public sector, an overview of strategies concepts and issues, the strategic management process, useful support technique and strategy in practices with case study and innovation in public sector.

FE241 GMGF5043 KUMP A ECONOMICS ANALYSIS FOR POLICY DECISIONS
This course aims to equip managers with an understanding of macroeconomic concepts and their relevance in both private and public contexts. It begins by introducing fundamental economic principles and examining the mechanics of the market system, including various market structures and their organizational impacts. The course then delves into key macroeconomic indicators such as GDP, unemployment, and inflation, emphasizing their significance and implications for public and private sector decision-making. Specific macroeconomic challenges, including inflation, economic growth, and the control of business cycles, will be explored to understand their effects and potential solutions. International economic issues are also covered, providing a comprehensive view of global trade and capital flows, and their influence on domestic economies. Throughout the course, various macroeconomic tools will be utilized to analyze and evaluate government policy measures aimed at regulating and addressing economic imbalances. By the end of the course, students will be able to critically evaluate macroeconomic arguments, understand economic policy issues at a conceptual level, and apply economic strategies to mitigate economic problems effectively.
FE241 GMGA5063 KUMP A PUBLIC SECTOR MARKETING
The adoption of New Public Management (NPM) and entrepreneurial government as strategies of public sector reform has changed the way in which public sector is managed and delivered it services. One of the major requirements of reform was to imitate private managerial principles with the aim to improve public sector efficiency and performance. Marketing is part of entrepreneurial government elements that can be taught in the context of public management. Therefore, this course is designed to expose students about the importance of marketing for public sector and how to utilise proven marketing principles and techniques to accomplish the goals of reform: to improve public sector efficiency and performance.
