This course examines the role of government in economy using fiscal policy. Topics discussed includes the roles of the public sector/government in the economy, fiscal functions, fiscal instruments, size of the public sector and collective decision-making in fulfilling the government's fiscal responsibility. The most important component of the fiscal policy i.e. taxation will be emphasized. Both theories and practice is brought forward to analyse the effectiveness of the taxation system.
