This course offers a new way of looking at the arts, culture and the creative industries from the perspective of evolutionary economics. It exposes students to a new cultural economics, or known as an evolutionary economics of creative industries. It focuses on the role of entrepreneurship, innovation trajectories and the market process of creative destruction. It connects the creative industries to different phases of an innovation trajectory and to the organisations, social networks and institutions that facilitate the innovation trajectory.

This course focuses on digital audio technology and production. Students are exposed to understanding basic features and forms of sound. Apart from that they will also learn of various sources of digital information to design digital recording set-ups that satisfy various production requirements. The course is intended to provide students with the necessary knowledge and skills to develop a better understanding of how people think about and relate to the creative industry-related brands, products and services. In particular, the course aims at teaching students about how to understand audience, the process of conducting market research and interpretation of data. Based on the findings of the projects, students will be guided on developing a new product or service, assessing customer satisfaction, segmenting a market, expanding into new markets, and developing an advertising campaign related to the creative industry.
